Artist I. Cook, 68, 809 N. Pope, died in his home at 9:35 p.m. Friday.

Mr. Cook was born April 18, 1896 at Black Post (sic), the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Warner E. Cook. He was married to Mattie Jane Hughes at Frankston, April 25, 1918. Mrs. Cook died July 16, 1964.

He retired from Civil Service in 1960 and had been employed at Goodfellow Air Force Base. He was a Deacon of Harris Avenue Baptist Church. He had been a Baptist deacon since 1938.

He lived in Frankston from 1918 to 1937 when he moved to Merkel. He came to San Angelo in 1948. He was a veteran of World War I.

Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Harris Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. Ferman Weedon, pastor, officiating. Pallbearers will be L.E. Horner, E.A. Huss, A.J. Kennemer, R.H. Burke, Edwin Garner and W.B. Eskew, all of San Angelo. Burial will be in Sweetwater Cemetery, directed by Johnson's Funeral Home.

Survivors include his step-mother, Mrs. Jess Warrington of Frankston; a son, John W. Cook of Lake Charles, Calcasieu Parish, LA; three daughters, Mrs. F.E. Healer of Sweetwater, Mrs. Joe D. Herrington of Leesville, La, and Mrs. Dan M. Pannell of Houston; two brothers, Carl Cook of Frankston and Robert Cook of Odessa; five sisters, Mrs. Joe Thrasher of Poyner, Mrs. Eva Blackburn of Merkel, Mrs. Will Campbell of Frankston, Mrs. Walter Nokes of Dallas and Mrs. Floyd Westbrook of Frankston; and 15 grandchildren."
