William Alfred Britton is the youngest child of William M. Britton and Martha Jane Keating Britton and so listed when the 1900 Texas Census, Rusk County, was enumerated. His mother died later in 1900 and William Alfred was raised by his widowed father and older siblings. When the 1910 TEXAS CENSUS, Rusk County, was enumerated he was still at home with his father, William M. Britton age 62, sisters, Emma E. age 26, Nancy F. age 24 and was listed as Wm A. age 22. Only William Alfred's sister, Emma, was enumerated as living with the father in the 1920 census and she died three years later.
