Arthur L. Beck Sr.
Korean War veteran worked at Weis Markets
Arthur L. Beck Sr., 77, of Espy concluded his journey in this life at 12:40 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Sugarloaf Township, Luzerne County, Dec. 12, 1933, a son of the late Harvey E. Sr. and Luvera Eisenhower Beck, he was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the U.S. Army in the 586th Engineer Co.
For 15 years, he was employed by Magee Carpet Co. as a fixer. Later, he was employed by Bloomsburg Mills until retiring. After retiring, he worked part time at Weis Markets, Bloomsburg.
Preceding him in death were his son, Arthur L. Beck Jr., on Jan. 8, 2010; and his brother, Edward Allen Beck, on July 21, 2011.
Arthur will be remembered by his wife of 56 years this past June, the former Doris A. Stankevich; son and daughters: Gerald "Jerry" Mack and wife, Debbie, Rochester, N.Y.; Pat Mordan and husband, Ran, Bloomsburg; Bonnie Miller and husband, Gary, Bloomsburg; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three brothers: Walter Beck, rural Bloomsburg; Harvey E. Beck Jr. and wife, Eleanor, Bloomsburg; and Russell Beck, Catawissa.

Entrusted to the care of the Heller Funeral Home, Nescopeck, where services will be Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jane O'Borski, associate pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomsburg, presiding. He will be laid to rest with military honors in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. Calling hours on Sunday from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to a charity of the donor's choice, preferably to a local disaster relief agency.
