Walter E. Beck, 88, of Bloomsburg passed away Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Geisinger Medical Center.

Born in Sugarloaf Township, on June 18, 1929, he was one of five sons of the late Harvey and Luvera (Eisenhower) Beck. He attended Millville area schools. Walter served in the United States Army from 1948 to 1952. He was a proud veteran who served on the front lines of the Korean War for three years. After an honorable discharge, he worked at Magee Carpet for many years and retired from Bloomsburg University where he was employed as a custodian.

He was a member of Canby Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg. He was also a member of the NRA and VFW Post 804, Millville. Walter liked to collect coins. He also enjoyed spending time playing cards with his family. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and trapping. And, in his later years, he enjoyed watching and feeding the wildlife around his home.

He will be greatly missed by his children: Larry Beck, Nescopeck, Susan Mensinger and husband Wayne, Nescopeck, Tracy Beck and wife Susan, Buckhorn, Lori Beck-Brown and husband Scott, Bloomsburg; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Winifred, on Dec. 21, 2006; son, Terry Beck, on April 11, 1974; and brothers: Harvey Jr., Arthur, Russell, and Edward.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 E. Third St., Nescopeck. Interment will follow at Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg.
