Harvey E. Beck Sr., 85, of Bloomsburg R.D.1, died early Saturday at his home after an illness of one year.
Born in Butler Valley, Feb. 9, 1900, he was a son of the late James M. and Sarah Jane Rinehimer Beck. He lived at his present address since 1942 and prior to that in the Conyngham Valley.
At an early age. He started to work as a lumberman. He then worked for the former AC&F Industries in Berwick during the war.
He farmed at his present address since moving there.
Surviving are his wife, the former Luvera Eisenhower, to whom he was married 57 years in October; five sons, Walter Beck Jr., Bloomsburg R.D.5; Harvey Beck Jr., Bloomsburg; Russell Beck, at home; Arthur Beck, Espy; Edward Beck, at home; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister Henrietta Walp of Drums.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. from the Heller Funeral Home, Nescopeck, with the Rev. Richard D. Patmore, Church of the Nazarene, Bloomsburg, officiating. Burial will be in Columbia Hill Cemetery, Danville R.D 3.
