He was born Jan. 17, 1912, in Cottle County. He married Hermie Bearden in Peducah, TX November 20, 1933 and Monita Spence in Bakersfield, Calif., on Sept. 14, 1940. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was an independent fence contractor and a Baptist. Four sons, Walter Lynn, Troy Dale, Mark and Robby Lynn, and a daughter, Edna Elaine Smith, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his second wife; four sons, Jackie Royce of Ruidoso, N.M., Ronnie, Don and Johnny, all of Paducah; six daughters, Peggy Krebbs of Amarillo, Darnell McGowan of Plainview, Nita Jo Shields of Greenville, Linda Plemmons of Fort Worth, Joy Martin of Lubbock and Teresa Smith of Atoka, Okla.; a brother, Neal of Possum Kingdom Lake; two sisters, Louise Truelock of Paducah and Thelma Clark of Sulphur Springs; 26 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
