Funeral services for Hermie Smith, 77, of Paducah, Texas were held Wednesday, March 3, 1982, at 2 p.m., at the First Baptist Church of Paducah.
Officiating was Rev. Jimmy Griffith, pastor and the Rev. Robert Beck, pastor of Gambrell St. Baptist Church, in Fort Worth, Texas.
Interment was in Garden of Memories Cemetery of Paducah, under the direction of Seigler Funeral Home.
Hermie died at 1:45 p.m., Monday, March 1, 1982, at Richards Memorial Hospital, following a lengthy illness.
The former Hermie Bearden was born July 4, 1905 in Hill Country, Texas. She moved to Cottle County in 1907. She was the daughter of Artemus Ward and Sallie (Titus) Bearden, early day residents of Cottle County.
Hermie was a member of the First Baptist church of Paducah. She worked in the nursery at the church for 35 years.
Hermie was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by a son, Jackie Royce Smith of Ruidoso, New Mexico; a daughter, Peggy Janelle Krebbs of Amarillo, Texas; a brother, Jack Bearden of Matador, Texas; five sisters: Lola Williams of Amarillo; Bessie Mobley of Lamesa, Texas; Maggie Brooks, Ophilia Tomison, and Eulilia Smith, all of Paducah; five grandchildren, Jackie Shirlene Smith Cooper; Stephen R. Smith; Rodney Jackson, Timmy Jackson, and Kelly Jackson; and four great-grandchildren, Jayson Cooper, Amber Cooper Lujan, Nickolaus Cooper, and Karen Jackson.
Serving as pallbearers were six of the boys she had cared for in the church nursery through the years; David Beck and Charles Beck of Fort Worth, Texas; Perry Foster of Wellington; and Kim Moore, Charles Carr and David Carr, all of Paducah.
