Felicidad Carrillo de Castro was the sister-in-law of General M. Vallejo. His wife. Benicia Carrillo de Vallejo was Felicidad's older sister. Another older sister married General Vallejo's brother. Felicidad was born April 1833 and was baptized on 28 May 1833 Mission San Diego. She died 23 Jul 1856 San Francisco, CA at the age of 23. Her baby boy was buried with her according to his death record. She was married to Victor Ramon Castro of Rancho San Pablo in El Cerrito, CA in 1853 and died a few years later. Felicidad and Victor had a daughter, Jovita Castro in 1854. Jovita was two years old when her mother died. Jovita Castro lived into her twenties. Felicidad died giving birth to their second child a baby boy named Victor Castro, Jr. in 1856. It was Felicidad's first marriage and 2nd child. Baby Victor Castro died in 1856, also. Victor Ramon Castro was the son of Francisco Castro 1773-1831 who came as a two-year old with his family on the Anza Expedition in 1775. Francisco Castro's father was Joaquin Ysidro Castro 1732-1802.Victor's mother was Maria Gabriela Berryessa 1780-1851 the daughter of Nicolas Antonio Berryessa 1761-1804 and Maria Gertrudis Peralta de Berryessa 1766-1802. (The Berryessa and Peralta's also came on the Anza Expedition of 1775-1776). Victor had seven children, including Josefa Castro de Fitch, Patricio Castro and Isabel Castro de O'Neil, with his former wife Luisa Martinez, daughter of the former Commandante Martinez. Sr. Martinez had been the Commandante of the Presidio of San Francisco and then had a land grant in what is now (2013) Pinole/Martinez, CA. Felicidad's father was Joaquin Victor Carrillo. Her mother was Maria Ygnacia de la Candelaria Lopez Carrillo. Felicidad's grandmother had come on the Anza Expedition in 1775-1776 from Mexico. Felicidad's mother married Joaquin Victor Carrillo. Their rancho was where old town San Diego is today (2013). When J. Carrillo died in 1837, her mother moved the family to Sonoma County to live near her daughter, Benicia Vallejo. Felicidad was a little girl, only 4 years old at the time. They lived near Filicidad's sister, Benicia Carrillo de Vallejo and her husband General Guadelupe M. Vallejo. When Maria Candelaria de Lopez de Carrillo died in 1849, the land was inherited by the remaining living children. Felicidad's mother was granted the Rancho Cabeza de Santa Rosa in Sonoma County. This later became the town of Santa Rosa, CA.Felicidad was part of the early families of California. She lived at the time when California was first part of Spain, then independent Mexico and then the 31st state of the United States in 1850. When Felicidad died her inheritance went to her daughter Jovita Castro, but was held in trust by her father because Jovita was a minor. Jovita Castro died in 1875 or 1876 in San Francisco, CA. Victor R. Castro married a third time to Julia Townsend Beardsley Lupton, who had one daughter from a previous marriage. Julia and Victor R. Castro raised Jovita and their other children. Victor R. Castro died in 1900 and Julia died in 1901. The descendants of Victor R. Castro live in various parts of California, Mexico and other states of the U.S. (2013)
