Julio Maria Tomas Carrillo Lopez was born and baptized at the San Diego Mission in Dec 1824 (baptismal record #5851). In 1836, at 12 years of age, Julio with 8 siblings, helped his mother Maria Ignacia, travel to the home of his married sister, Francisca Benicia de Vallejo in Sonoma. Julio grew up at the Cabeza de Santa Rosa Rancho. In 1849, after the death of his mother Maria Ignacia, Julio inherited an adobe house in Sonoma and about 2000 acre's. The acres' eastern boundary was Rincon Valley, the north along Mark West creek. The west was bordered by the Laguna de Santa Rosa and almost to Cotati on the south. Julio married his FIRST WIFE Maria Antonia Arroyo Bojorques (1828-1868) in 1842 and they had two children. He married his SECOND WIFE, Maria Teodosia Bojorques Linares on September 30, 1862 in Petaluma. Julio and Teodosia had ten children,five boys and five girls. Julio was a member of the Santa Rosa Masonic Lodge and was the first native-born Mason. He was an honorary member of the Native Sons of the Golden West. The funeral for Julio in 1889 was the largest ever seen in Santa Rosa.
Friends and family followed his casket in 46 carriages. Every business in Santa Rosa closed and people stood on the side walks in silence. After the graveside ceremony, his brother-in-law, General Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo, spoke a few words.
