Joaquin was born at the San Gabriel Mission in 1819 to Joaquin Victor Carrillo II Marron and Maria Ignacia de la Candelaria Lopez Arballo. The San Gabriel Mission Baptismal record #6266 was used as the source for birth year of Joaquin. At 16 he traveled with his mother and 8 siblings north to Sonoma, California. In 1849 he married Maria Guadalupe Caseres Boronda. In 1844, Joaquin received 13,400 acres, that is now the town of Sebastopol, and named his land grant Llano de Santa Rosa Rancho. In 1875 Joaquin married Martha Rose Caffera-Springer. The family home in 1880 was the Carrillo Hotel, later renamed the Analy Hotel, and was located at Bodega Hwy and Main Street in Sebastopol. Joaquin was 80 when he died at Santa Rosa in 1899.
