Lipps was born at Vinita, Okla., and later moved with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Henry Lipps Sr., to a farm at Bartlett. He was graduated from Coffeyville Junior College and from the University of Kansas in 1935.
He joined the Railway Express Agency after his graduation from Kansas and worked in Coffeyville, Tulsa, Amarillo, and Wichita.
He was a former owner of the Bright Gas, Inc., Coffeyville, and moved to Wichita three years ago.
Survivors include the with Geraldine, of the home; two sons, John Stanford Lipps, Bartlett, and Fred Lipps, Coffeyville; a step-daughter, Connie Roland, Wichita, and three granddaughters.
