Basil and Emily lost a son, James Fletcher Lowry, after he was wounded at the battle of Sailor's Creek, VA, and died after Gen. Lee's surrender. James Fletcher was the first husband of Sarah Emily Ragsdale, and they had a daughter, Addie Fletcher Lowry. There is no known grave marker for James Fletcher Lowry.
