Mr. James Allen Anderson, 81, of Hubbard, passed away Monday, Sept. 26, 2011, at a Hubbard nursing facility. Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28 at First United Methodist Church of Hubbard with the Rev. Jane Pettit and the Rev. Ricky Woodall officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Viewing will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, at Wade Funeral Home in Hubbard and the family will receive friends during that same time at the Haralson Center at the First United Methodist Church in Hubbard.

James was born in Hubbard, Texas, to the late Jim Scott and Clara Estelle (Vardeman) Anderson. He was a lifetime resident of Hubbard and a graduate of Hubbard High School. James worked at General Tire in Waco for 20 years before retiring and then owning and operating the Anderson Insurance Agency in Hubbard for many years. He was very active in Hubbard civic affairs as he served on the Hubbard ISD School Board and the Fairview Cemetery Board of Directors. James was a longtime member of the Hubbard Lions Club, Hubbard Volunteer Fire Department and the First United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir for many years. He was an avid sports fan and the #1 fan of the Hubbard Jaguars as he attended every event that his three children were involved in and continued the tradition with his grandchildren when he was able.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Wilburn, Odis and Glenn Anderson; and sisters, Rosezine Hammer, Margaret Anderson and Mary Etta "Neek" Adair.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Blount) Anderson, of Hubbard; sons, Greg Anderson and wife, Debbie, of San Antonio, and Mike Anderson and wife, Carolyn, of Elm Mott; daughter, Jeanette Smithey and husband, Jerry, of Hubbard; grandchildren, Tiffany Wilkins and husband, Steve, of Cibolo, Heather Fulmer and husband, Robert, of Elm Mott, Amy Lopez and husband, Adam, of Spring Branch, Bryan Anderson and wife, Becky, of Shepherd, Montana and Kristin Smithey, of Hubbard; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Bennie Hughes, of Hubbard; and numerous nieces and nephews
