Retired Pennsy Engineer Died Here Sunday
A retired Pennsylvania Railroad engineer, Clarence Cable, died at 1 p.m. Sunday at his home, 1477 S. Arch Ave. Mr. Cable, who was 71, had been in ill health two years.
Mr. Cable retired two years ago after being with the Pennsylvania Railroad for 45 years. A native of Pittsburgh, he had lived in Alliance 33 years.
Cable was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Alliance Lodge 467, B.P. Elks and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Mr. Cable had been an outstanding bowler and was a former captain of the Elks No. 1 team.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine of the home; a son, John Conahay of Van Nuys, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Menarchy of Alliance; a brother, Clyde of Pittsburgh and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Sharer Funeral Home. Interment will be made in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
