John Wesley Cable was born about Oct 1856, the son of Henry Cable (c1831-1884). There is one source for his mother's name. It is Eliza as listed in the 1860 census.

John most likely was born in Allegheny City which is now known as North Side, Pittsburgh.

He married first to Anna S. Baltz on June 17, 1883 in Allegheny City, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. They had a son Clarence Otto Cable born on January 25, 1885. John and Anna divorced on January 1, 1892.

John married second to Lillian May Taylor (1868-1937) on July 22, 1892, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. They had three children: Maud Elizabeth (1893-1901); Clyde Alonzo (1895-1964); Muriel Veronica (1909-1943) married James Ritson.

John survived the early deaths of his parents, step mother, his siblings, and a daughter. He lived with his second wife and her family in West End, Pittsburgh. He was a custodian for the Pittsburgh Post Office. He was very much loved by his granddaughter, Helen May Cable. He died on her 12th birthday.

John W. Cable Dies.
John W. Cable, born in Pittsburgh in 1854, of House No. 12, Neptune, died in his home late yesterday. He had been an employee of the Pittsburgh postoffice for the last 32 years. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lillian Taylor, one daughter, Mrs. Muriel Ritson, two sons, Clyde A. Cable and Clarence Cable, and two grandchildren. He was a member of of the Improved Order of Redmen, Pontiac tribe No. 13. Services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Interment will be in Southside cemetery.

Buried Mar 13 1927, South Side Cemetery, 1404 Brownsville Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15210. There is no headstone.
