William was the 8th child of Andrew and Susanna Weast Danner. He was however the 11th child for Andrew. Andrew had 3 children through his previous marriage to Ruanna Weast. Ruanna died in 1856.

William married Mary Catherine Eichelberger and they had the following children:

Wilbert A
Emory M
Reba Danner Fox
