Henry was born in Harrisonburg, Rockingham County, Shenandoah Valley, Virginia. In 1829/1830 he emigrated to Ohio with his parents & family to Miami/Montgomery Counties.
Married Magdalena Crist 9-12-1847 in Clark County OH,
They had 9 Children.

Henry's occupation, Farmer, Blacksmith, Member of the Hickory Grove German Baptist Church in Miami County, now Maple Grove. Buried in the Arnold Cemetery, Carriage Hill Farm. In the diary of Henry H. Arnold, grandfather of Brother Lawrence Arnold, on Tuesday October 23, 1883 is found the following entry: "I and Henry (his son) was at the meeting house again, working at the lot, leveling it up, etc. and also set out 60 maple trees for shade." As a result of this, the Grove or Spring Grove house came to be called the Maple Grove house. Today it is called Maple Grove Church.
