James Clark Adams, 76, who farmed in Rock Island county all his life, died at 7:30 last night in his farm residence south of Joslin after an Illness of four months. He suffered a stroke last fall. Funeral services will be held at 2 Thursday afternoon in the United Brethren church, Joslin, with the Rev. G. M. Berry in charge. The body will be removed from Knox funeral home, Moline, to the residence tomorrow afternoon and will be taken to the church in time for services. Burial will be in Hillsdale cemetery. Mr. Adams was born in Osborn Jan. 22, 1864. He married Cynthia Ward in Friend, Neb., on July 4, 1886. Mr. Adams had spent most of his life farming near Joslin and he was active until he suffered a stroke. He was a member of the Erie Royal Neighbors. Surviving are the widow; two sons, James Adams Jr. of Alhambra, Cal., and Kenneth of Joslin; a daughter, Sarah Adams, at home; one brother, Sam Adams of Erie; a sister, Mrs. Mary Taulbee of Rock Island, and two grandchildren, Sue Ann and David Adams. One son, Mason, was killed in the World war.
