David was born in Ahoghill, County Antrim, Ireland the son of Andrew & Mary Ann (ULN) Blair. Hr came to this country at the age of 18, arriving in New York May 12, 1867. From New York he went to Upper Sandusky, Ohio where he was employed for a small time and in 1869, came to Washington County, Kansas in a covered wagon. He homesteaded a farm there and engaged in the business of farming and raising stock. He married Luella Phillips on October 23, 1875 in Washington County, Kansas. In 1889 the family moved to Labette County, Kansas locating on a farm one mile west of Edna. They lived there until the fall of 1901 when they moved to Edna.
