Wilma Ackerman Services for Wilma Lois Ackerman, 79, Storm Lake, will be held Wednesday, May 20, at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Rembrandt. Rev. Harold Koughn will officiate. Burial will be in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery, Storm Lake Sliefert Funeral Home, Storm Lake, is in charge of arrangements. She died Sunday, May 17. In Storm Lake Wilma was born August 31, 1918, on a farm near Early to Nicholas and Elda (Hoelscher) Sennert. Her childhood years were spent in the Rembrandt area. She graduated from Lincoln Lee High School in 1936. She married John Ackerman on Jan. 7, 1939, in Storm Lake. They farmed in the Rembrandt and Truesdale area for many years. Wilma was a baptized member of the Rembrandt United Methodist Church. She was an officer of the United Methodist Women, taught Sunday School, and helped with Bible School through the years She was a volunteer at the Buena Vista County Hospital cafeteria. She belonged to the Truesdale Birthday Club. Rembrandt Federated Women's Club until it disbanded, and then she was a member of the Sioux Rapids Federated Study Club. She was also a member of the Singles Club in Storm Lake Her grandchildren were very special to her and she enjoyed their activities She enjoyed embroidering, other sewing projects, and tending her flower beds. She loved animals, especially cats, and the outdoors. She entered the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Albert City in December 1996. She was preceded in death by her parents: her husband — John Ackerman in December 1974; an infant granddaughter — Andrea Louis in July 1978: and a brother — Lester Sennert. Survivors include a son — Nick and Anita Ackerman, Storm Lake: two grandchildren; three brothers — Carl and Maudie Sennert and Richard and Janie Sennert, both of Linn Grove; and Neal and Phyllis Sennert, Rembrandt; and other relatives.
