Carl E. Sennert, age 90, of Storm Lake, Iowa and formerly of the Rembrandt and Linn Grove area, died November 13, 2012 at Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.

Carl Earnest Sennert, the son of Nicholas and Elda (Hoelscher) Sennert, was born in Albert City, Iowa, on December 4, 1921. He was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Rembrandt. Carl received his education at the Lincoln-Lee Consolidated School where he was a graduate of the Class of 1939.
He faithfully served his country in the United States Army during World War II and the occupation of Korea in the communications division. Carl served with the 20th Infantry Regiment from February 21, 1946 until his honorable discharge on April 13, 1947.
Carl was united in marriage to Maudie Mae Burch on May 6, 1967 in South Sioux City, Nebraska, and Leslie, Janet, and Dena comprised their family. Carl and Maudie were engaged in farming between Rembrandt and Linn Grove for many years. Carl semi-retired in 1986 but continued to assist in his nephew's farming operation. In later years, Carl and Maudie came to Storm Lake where they made their home at Otsego Place.
Carl was a member of the Rembrandt United Methodist Church and attended the Storm Lake United Methodist Church while residing here. He was a lifetime member of the Alta VFW.. He loved all sorts of mind games, brain teasers, especially the daily Jumble puzzle. Carl's grandchildren enjoyed their grandpa as much as Carl enjoyed being a grandpa to them. He will be dearly missed.
Carl's life and memories are celebrated by his family which include his wife, Maudie Sennert of Storm Lake, Iowa; children: Leslie (Peg) Milton of Laurens, Iowa; Janet (Paul) Lietz of Alta, Iowa; and Dena (Mark) Miller of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; grandchildren: Erin (Bryan) Hicks of Sharpsburg, Georgia; Kimberly Milton of North Hollywood, California; Jessica (Chris) Paulin of Polk City, Iowa; Daniel (Andrea) Lietz of Storm Lake, Iowa; Matthew and Holly Miller of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; Becca (Kyle) Aronson of Cedar Falls, Iowa; great grandchildren: Cohen and Tatum Mae Paulin; Cassidy, Kayla, Robert, and Taustin Miller; two brothers: Richard (Jane) Sennert of Storm Lake, Iowa; Neal Sennert of Alta, Iowa; sister-in-law, Allene (Floyd) Erichsen of West Des Moines, Iowa; along with other extended family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ross and Laura Burch; sister, Wilma (John) Ackerman; and his brother, Les (Deloris) Sennert.
