Katherine (Kate) Burre was born in Switzerland. She came to Leavenworth County in 1872. She married John Burre and they had four children: Fred, the proprietor of Burre Fruit Farm; Ida Rozendal, the proprietor of the green house on Washington and Ohio Avenue; Emma Mayer, who runs a small fruit farm and garden on the home place west of Leavenworth, and Louis.

Mrs. Katherine Burre died yesterday at her home Twenty-Second and Spruce streets, after a lingering illness. Mrs. Burre was 64 years old. She was born in Bern, Switzerland.
The funeral is to be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon from the German Evangelical Lutheran church at Seventh and Miami streets and interment will be in Mount Muncie cemetery.
Mrs. Burre leaves two sons, Frank and Louis Burre, and two daughters, Miss Emma Burre and Mrs. Ida Rozendall, all living in Leavenworth.
