Walter Hoover, 67, 209 South Locust, Mt Pleasant, died early Wednesday Jan. 30, 1979 at his residence.0
He was born Aug. 14, 1911, at Yarmouth, the son of George J. and Margaret Gill Hoover. On Nov. 30, 1940 at Washington, he married Pearl (Connie) DeWitt who survives.
He farmed in Henry County until 1960. He worked for H. Eugene Smith Construction for the last 20 years, until his retirement Jan. 1 1079.
He was a member of the St Alphonsus Church of Mt Pleasant, Moose Lodge of Mt Pleasant, the Local Labors No.525 and Teamsters Local No.218 of Burlington.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald E. Lockridge, Rodney J., Mt Pleasant; three daughters, Mrs. Roger (Kathy) Messer, Williford, Ark., Mrs. Donald (Janet) Ensminger, Mt Pleasant, Miss Mary Ann Hoover, Coralville; one foster daughter, Mrs. Steven (Diane) Sammons, Trenton; two brothers, Earl A. Hoover, Mt Pleasant, Thomas R. Hoover, San Diego, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Donald (Edith) Brown and Mrs. John (Pauline) Morrow, both of Mt Pleasant, Mrs. Dean (Martha) Combs, Burlington and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Weir-Cookes Funeral Home in Mt Pleasant."
