Margarett May Hoover, 71, died Thursday evening, August 2, 1956, at her home at 1011 East Madison Street in Mt. Pleasant, following a month’s illness. She was born at Glasgow, Iowa, on April 15, 1885, the daughter of William and Ellen (Hoskins) Gill, and she had been a resident of Henry and Jefferson Counties all her life. She and George Hoover were married on March 3, 1904.

Her husband survived her, along with six children: Thomas, in the U.S. Navy at Pensacola, Florida; Earl Hoover of Hillsboro; Walter Hoover, Pauline Morrow, and Edith Brown of Mt. Pleasant, and Martha Combs of Burlington. A brother, Elmer Gill of Hillsboro; a sister, Mrs. Osie Calhoun of Mt. Pleasant; and 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survived. Two daughters, Marie and Cecilia, predeceased her.

Her funeral was held August 6th at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with the Rev, J.J. Manning officiating.
