Charles I Scott
Charles I Scott was born November 19, 1866 in Schuyler Co., Ill., the son of Richard M and Martha A Scott, and passed away December 2, 1947 at St. Joseph's hospital in Wichita at the age of 84 years and 13 days. In 1867, the family moved to Andrew county, Missouri and lived there until 1879 when they came to Kansas and lived in Hodgeman and McPherson counties until 1884. It was in 1884 that they came to Pratt county where the home has been the past 63 years.
Mr. Scott was converted in early manhood and joined the Fairview Methodist church. On March 17, 1892 he was united in marriage to Edna M Randle. They were engaged in farming until 1943 when they retired and moved to Pratt, where the home has been at 121 S Taylor street.
Besides his wife, Mrs. Edna M Scott, he is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Nile H (Nina) Nicholas of Pratt, Mrs. Harry S. (Ava) Gregory, Jr., of Hutchinson, and Mrs. Roy C (Vera) Houston of Dodge City; three brothers, Rev. John Scott of Arkansas City, Kansas, Walter Scott of Wichita and Claude C Scott of Pratt; five grandchildren--Harry S Gregory III, Mrs. Orville (Frances) Gregory Baxter, and Roy Jr., Carol and Janice Houston. One grandson, Nile Howard Nicholas, Jr., five brothers and one sister proceeded him in death.
