Dewey was born in Mart, Texas, to the late James Otto and Ida (Ludwig) Hyde. Dewey married Ruth Crabb in 1956 in Waco. He was a 1952 graduate of Waco Tech and was employed 33 years at General Tire. Dewey served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a rancher and member of Southwestern Cattlemen's Association. Dewey was a long time member of Patton Baptist Church and had served as Sunday School superintendent for many years.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Liburn; and sisters, Maurine Key and Burnell Jureck.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Hyde; daughters, Stephney Gaidusek and husband, Johnny, of Valley Mills, and Shelley Elkins and husband, Don, of McGregor; son, Curtis Hyde, of Valley Mills; grandchildren, Justin and wife, April, Westin, Magain, Ragain, Amanda Wilson, Randon, Cheynne, and Shawni; great-grandchildren, Madalyn and Audrey; brothers, Harold Hyde and wife, Loretta, Bill Hyde and wife, Velma, Roy Hyde and wife, Alice; and numerous other family members and friends.
