Dresden: Services for Roy B. Hawks, age 78, were Monday afternoon at the Unity Baptist Church. Mr. Hawks died at 6:30 Saturday morning at his home on Oak Dale Street, after a long illness.
Services were conducted by Bros. O'Neal Melyon and Ray McCartney with burial in Concord Cemetery. A retired farmer he was a member of the General Baptist Church.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Effie Mae Johnson Hawks; nine sons, Howard, Bill, John, Russell, all of St. Louis; Bud Hawks, Beauna Park, Calif., Horton Arnold Hawks, Dukedom, David, Frank and Glenn Hawks , all of Dresden; seven daughters, Mrs. Lottie Barber, Mrs. Etta Lee Bayers, Mrs. Evensteen Dawson, St. Louis; Mrs. Amelia Pennington, Lansing; Mrs. Betty Winstead, Mrs. Sarah Gourley, Union City and Mrs. Martha Jones, Dresden; one brother, Floyd Hawks Rochester, Mich., and two sisters, Mrs. Bera Stafford, Palm Springs, Calif. and Mrs. Georgia Stafford, Dresden; 35 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
