Flora Kuper Aukes was born March 4, 1894 at Wellsburg, Ia., the daughter of Harm and Reentje Kuper. Here she grew up and attended the county school?west of Wellsburg.
She was united in marriage to Benjamin Harrison Aukes on Feb. 5, 1913. They farmed north of Wellsburg until 1954, when they retired and moved to Wellsburg.
She was a faithful member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church, having made confession of her faith in Jesus Christ on December 23, 1934. She served as president of the Ladies Aid for many years.
She passed away very peacefully on May 30, 1970 at her home in Wellsburg. She attained the age of 76 years, 2 months and 26 days.
Mrs. Aukes leaves to mourn her sudden passing: her husband, a patient at the Maple Manor Nursing Home in Aplington: five children, (Marian), Mrs. Jerry Kuper of Osage; Harm Aukes of Wellsburg; (Lorene), Mrs. Ray Evert of Sauk Rapids, Minn.; (Lois), Mrs. Lee Bakker of Wellsburg; Mrs. Iva M. Slifer of Wichita, Kansas; one brother, Joe Kuper of Lennox, South Dakota; one sister, (Jennie), Mrs. Harry Bruns of Lennox, South Dakota; 23 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother and a sister in infancy; two sisters, Mrs. Betty Hoek, Mrs. Grace Behrends; three brothers, Martin, Dick and Cornelius Kuper.
