Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the Free Methodist Church of Cowden with visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Lockart and Sons Funeral Home in Cowden. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Cowden.
Mr. Banning was born Sept. 24, 1895, in Lakewood Township, Shelby County. He was the son of Charles and Arwilda Oller Banning. He married Myrtle Banning on Sept. 8, 1915, in Lakewood Township and she preceded him in death on Aug. 29, 1976.
He was a member of the Free Methodist Church of Cowden, operated the Equity Store in Cowden, was supervisor for Lakewood and Dry Point townships.
Surviving are sons, Lonnie of Effingham and Rayburn of Lakewood; daughters, Mrs. Dick (Sis) Randall of Beecher City and Mrs. Ed (Lois) Jones of Lakewood; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
