"Susannah, the daughter of Zenas Harrington and Susannah Ball first married Phillip Blodgett on December 7, 1844 in Kingston, Sauk County, Wisconsin. To this union were two children, Andrew McNutt and Anna Martha Blodgett. We have the four of them living with her parents in the 1850 census According to the Blodgett family history, Phillip took off to the gold fields leaving Susanna alone with her two children. Susanna remarried this time to John Roper on August 26, 1853 in Sauk County, Wisconsin. To this union was born seven children. On August 26, 1861 John passed away. We do not know what happened to Susanna after this time. In the 1870 census in Wisconsin we have their children living at different locations. On the 1870 census for Baraboo, Sauk County, Wisconsin we have Andrew Blodgett and his half-brother Wilder Roper living on a farm owned by Thomas Burke. Andrew was 23 and Wilder 18. Also in Baraboo we have 14-year-old George Roper living with Hennas Hasettine and family going to school. We also find three of John and Susanna's children, son Alva, 13, and twin girls Jennie and Lillie both 10 living at the Pheneas Reformatory in Waukesha, Waukesha County, Wisconsin. Where Mary and Charles were living in 1870 we do not know."
