He was a retired cattleman, rancher, dairyman, pipe fitter, and real estate developer, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Douglas. He was the husband of the late Roxie Mae Herring Clough.
Survivors include: 1 daughter, Iris Mellonie Clough; 1 son, Dr. John Lamar Clough; 2 sister, Annie C. Meeks and Sara Isabell Clough; 2 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services were held Thursday, March 18, 2001 at 1pm at the First Baptist Church with the interment in the Douglas City Cemetery.
