Ava's first marriage was to Earl Hurt who died after eight years. Earl was the half-brother of Alma Saul who was the wife of Ava's brother, Berlin. They had no children.
Her second marriage was to George Pendleton Reynolds. George and Ava didn't have any children. They adopted their step-daughter, Margaret, from Baptist Childrens Home when she was 12 years old.

Ava Sizemore Reynolds, 90, formerly of Dunbrack Rd., Covington, died Monday, July 8, 2002, at Woodlands Court Nursing Home in Clifton Forge.
She was the widow of George Pendleton Reynolds who preceded her in death in 1995.
Mrs. Reynolds was born June 30, 1912, in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late Calvin Lewis Sizemore and Emma Holcomb Sizemore.
Mrs. Reynolds was a lifelong resident of Covington, a former employee of the former Industrial Rayon Plant. She was a member of Covington Bible Church.
Surviving are a daughter (adopted daughter), Margaret Perry and husband, Robert of Roanoke ; two sisters, Lola Hilton of Fredericksburg and Ilene Duncan of Davenport, Fla.; a grandchild, Shana Beirne of Lake City, Fla.; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Roy (Virginia) Phillips of Covington.
Other than her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Herbert Sizemore, Alden Sizemore, Joe Sizemore, Berlin Sizemore, Carl Sizemore; and three sisters, Della Martin, Elva Hoke and Margie Paxton.
A funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. at Covington Bible Church with the Rev. Howard Merrelll officiating, assisted by the Rev. Everette Duncan. Interment will follow at Alleghany Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at Loving Funeral Home Wednesday from 7 to 8:30"
