"Mrs. Elva Sizemore Hoke, 86, of Route 1, Jerrys Run, died Saturday morning at her residence. She was the wife of Ernest Newton Hoke, who preceded her in death in 1982.
Mrs. Hoke was born Aug. 23, 1906, in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late Calvin L. Sizemore and Emma Holcomb Sizemore.
She was a member of United Baptist Church in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va.
Mrs. Hoke was a homemaker and had been a resident of this area all of her life.
She is survived by two sons, Glen N. Hoke of Covington; Marvin L. Hoke of Mableton, Ga.; a daughter, Mrs. Guy P. (Eleanor) Brown of Covington; four sisters, Mrs. Della Martin and Mrs. George (Ava) Reynolds, both of Covington; Mrs. Lola Hylton of Fredericksburg; Mrs. Ilene McCarthy of Roanoke; 14 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Dewey E. Hoke, in 1991, five brothers and a sister.
A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with the Rev. Dan Gillette officiating, assisted by the Rev. Wallace Smith. Interment will follow in Hoke Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons of the deceased.
The family will receive friends tonight from7:00 to 8:30 at Loving Funeral Home and at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Guy P. Brown, Indian Valley, at other times.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Covington Bible Church Families-in-Need Fund."
