John Bertrom Horton died Sunday, 19 June 1938, at the residence of his daughter, Beatrice Little, in Palmyra, New Jersey.
He was the husband of Margaret A. "Maggie" Gladney.
He was the father of Harry Horton of Moorestown, Bertram John Horton of Palmyra, Beatrice Horton Little of Palmyra, Elizabeth Horton Snelson of Camden, Margaret Horton Camp of Georgia and the late May E. Horton.
He was the step-father of John Henry W. Greenig of Palmyra from his wife's brief first marriage.
Grandfather of Ida J. Horton buried in the same cemetery.
A longtime resident of Palmyra, Burlington County, New Jersey, he was a Pressman for the Victor Talking Machine Company in the early 20th century and later was a janitor at the Palmyra Theatre. In earlier years, he was a railway conductor in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Funeral service was held at Snover Funeral Home, 313 East Broad Street, Palmyra, New Jersey, officiated by the Reverend George Lockett, at 2 p.m., on Thursday, 23 June 1938.
Interment in the Methodist Cemetery, Palmyra, New Jersey.
Note: Some records list his birthplace as Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and later records claim he was born in Maine. Philadelphia has no record of his birth, however he resided there with his parents and siblings before relocating to New Jersey. This is an ongoing research project.
