Orra was the daughter of Silas Phelps Sr. and his wife Amytis Cone, daughter of Elijah and Elizabeth Cone. (Silas was B-1759 in the Haddam area of CT. He died 2/23/1855 in his 96th year.) Orra would have been born about 1793 in, perhaps, Haddam area, CT.

NOTES: New information to add to this bio:

"Orra's father, Silas Phelps Sr., married twice. Orra's mother, Amytis Cone, died in Lenawee County, MI, but Silas was still living in Port Gibson, NY. Amytis was visiting her daughter Permelia (Phelps) Hiller, got sick, and died.

"Silas then married a second time to Mary Piper in 1843. Nancy Warner married Edward Piper and is shown living next door to Silas and Mary (Piper) Phelps in the 1850 census (Silas would have been 84 when they married but he didn't die until he was 96).

"I haven't had a chance to figure out the relationship between Mary and Edward but I'm guessing it is widowed mother and son.

"Orra Phelps' siblings were Ephraim, Alby, Calvin Cone, Silas Jr.(my line), Amytis, Elijah C., Permelia (m. Hiller), Charles E., Selden, Rhoda (m. Fuller), Amanda, and there may possibly have been siblings named Sarah, James, and Daniel but I haven't found enough information yet to definitely tie them to this family. They were born in Counties all over NY and maybe even in VT and MA. Silas was a migratory man. Let me know if you'd like more of the specific details."

1830 Census for Manchester, Ontario County, NY:
Orra (Phelps) Warner, head of household
5 children and
one elderly man living with her.

Asenath (Warner) Childs came to Michigan in 1833 with her husband and his parents and siblings.

No Warner children as heads of household in 1840 Census for Ontario Co., NY.
Edward Piper is in Manchester, Ontario, NY in 1840.

Orra is, indeed, in the 1850 census. She is enumerated as "Dorothy Thomson" in the household of John Thomson in Manchester, Ontario, New York. This census confirms my long-held suspicion that Orra was a nickname for Dorothy - V. Phelps

Simon and Nancy Piper in 1850 Census in Onondaga, Ingham, Michigan. They came to Michigan about 1840 based on the birth places of their children. There's an Orange Phelps living nearby.
