The Last Will And Testament Of John Paybody Written 16 Jul 1649 - No document of any sort is appended to the copy of the will and the accompanying deposition of Mr. [John] Fernyside. Doubtless an inventory was taken duly, but has become lost. The copy does not give absolute evidence that the name was spelled exactly in this way in the original, though this would be usual with recorders; but it affords satisfactory evidence that the signature was an autograph and not a "mark."

Although there has not been discovered any family record of this Duxbury pioneer or other documentary evidence that Francis of Ipswich was his child, yet that theory is acted on in this work. John Paybody died at a time and place of which no record has been found. The Peabody Genealogy by Dr. Selim Hobart Peabody 1909
