Her mother was Diademia Edwards, daughter of John H. W. and Deborah (Horton) Edwards.

Diademia Edwards married Cyrus George before 1850 and had Susan Mary George. She then married George W. Ackerman before 1860 and had several more children, including Catherine Ackerman. Around 1881, Diademia married Charles Tavis and moved to Altoona, Blair Co., PA.
