J. August Engstrand, a farmer residing 3 miles south of Lindstrom, died at the Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul at 5 am Wednesday. He was 66 years of age. He had been falling steadily the past winter and his passing was believed to have been caused by complications from injuries which he suffered when his home was wrecked by the tornado a year ago. Funeral services will be conducted at the farm home at 1:30 pm Saturday and at Trinity Church of Lindstrom at 2:00. Rev M. D. Haferman will officiate and burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. He leaves his widow, one son, and one brother.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday over the remains of J. August Engstrand of Lindstrom, aged 66 years who passed away at the Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul early Wednesday.

The services opened at the family home, three miles south of Lindstrom at 1:30 pm at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Lindstrom at 2:00. Rev. M. D. Haferman officiated and hymns were sung by A. F. Oberg, Miss Lela Locke, and Mrs. Peter Lutz. Pallbearers who carried the remains to their resting place in Fairview Cemetery were: Julius Hawkinson, Emil Peterson, Charles W. Swenson, Albin Holt, George Gummerson, and Fred Gummerson.

Mr. Engstrand had been failing the past few months with cancer but was bedridden only the past 8-10 days of his life. A week ago Sunday he was brought to the hospital in St. Paul where he succumbed 4 days later at 5 am Wednesday.

Johan August Engstrand was born on July 17, 1863 in Bernamo, Sweden. He came to this country in 1888 and since then had made his home in the Lindstrom vicinity most of the time. He spent a few years working in North Dakota, where he was joined in marriage to Sigrid Nelson at Hillsboro on November 26, 1906.

In 1913 Mr. Engstrand purchased the farm 3 miles south of Lindstrom which has since been their home. He had been a member of Trinity Church for the past 5 years.

He leaves his widow, one son, Alvar Engstrand, residing at home, one brother, Gust Engstrand of Center City, many other relatives and friends. Another son died five years ago.
