Mrs. Emma Hickam Laid to Rest Saturday Afternoon
Mrs. Emma Hickam, 82 years old, widow of the late Nicholas Hickam, and for many years a resident of Freedom, died suddenly Friday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Norman Fender, northwest of Spencer on State Road 67, where she had been making her home. Mr. and Mrs. Fender were getting ready to take Mrs. Hickam for an evening automobile ride when she suffered a severe heart attack.
She was born November 13, 870, a daughter of the late Jessie and Jane Burton. her husband preceded her in death sometime ago.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Adria Fender of Spencer; Mrs Klea Johnson of Clayton and one son, Casper (Cap) Hickam, of Freedom. She also leaves eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at three o'clock at the West & Son Funeral Home, Rev. Cyrus Mears, in charge, and interment was made in Riverside Cemetery.
