At age 23 Frank married Eula Ward on May 21, 1916 in Billings, Montana. Together they went on to have at least three children: Billy, Toots and Dee. Billy and Toots were born in Montana. In 1920 the family was living in Big Horn, Wyoming but by the birth of their third child in 1925 they had relocated to Washington. Jimmy stayed in Spokane, Washington until his death.
Frank attended school until the 8th grade. In 1930 Jimmy worked as a Switchman on the Steam Railroad and was a member of the United Switchmen of America Union. Jimmy was Catholic and was a member of St. Patrick's Parish in Spokane.
