Lorene Braden Lowe Upchurch, 81, of Whitmore Lake, Mich., died Thursday, Jan. 1, 1998, in Michigan.Mrs. Upchurch was born in Oliver Springs on Dec. 22, 1916, the daughter of Richard and Maude Lockett Braden, both now deceased.

She had lived in the Ann Arbor area of Michigan since 1950.She had worked for the University of Michigan for 18 years. She was a member of Chapter 211 of the Order of Eastern Star and of the Townline Group, both in Michigan.

Mrs. Upchurch is survived by two sons, Richard C. Lowe and his wife, Josephine, of Whitmore Lake, and Steve W. Lowe and his wife, Carol, of Ann Arbor; five grandchildren, Scott Lowe and his wife, Linda, Steven Lowe and his wife, Jerilyn, Stacy Hugenot and her husband, Scott, Lisa Harris and her husband, Rich, and Laura Haas and her husband, Jeff; and five great-grandchildren, Angelina Lowe, Elizabeth Lowe, Travis Lowe, Steve Haas and Dean Haas.

She is also survived by a sister, Viola Bartley of Whitmore Lake; and three brothers, Bill Braden, Sam Braden and his wife, Katherine, and Jay Braden and his wife, Peggy, all of Oliver Springs.

Her husbands, Willie Lowe and Curtis E. Upchurch, a sister, Eula Shears, a brother-in-law, John Shears, and a sister-in-law, Marjorie Braden of Oliver Springs, died earlier.

The funeral will be held at 8 tonight, Jan. 5, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Tony Rutherford officiating.A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Butler Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.The family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to Butler Cemetery Care Fund, in care of James H. Braden, 294 Airport Road, Oliver Springs, TN 37840.
