He was born in Charlottesville, Va., and was the son of the late Lake Morrow Smith and Dr. Dudley C. Smith and was the widower of Nancy Kornegay Smith.
Dudley was a veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II. He had retired from the Corps of Engineers as a Civil Engineer after 37 years of service.
Left to cherish his memory is a daughter, Sallie S. Abraham, of Norfolk; a son, Dudley C. Smith III, of Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Marjorie S. Smithey, of Roanoke, Va.; and two grandchildren. A Graveside Funeral Service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2011, in Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Fr. John Rohrs. H.D.
