Born in Liberty, he was the widower of Catherine Rampey Stephens and a son of the late John and Stella Smith Stephens.
Surviving are two daughters, Laurel James and her husband, Stanley, and Lorraine Chapman, all of Liberty; two sons, Doug Stephens and wife, Shirley, and Leon Stephens and wife, Joan, all of Liberty; a sister, Jincey Suttles; two brothers, Don and Dempsey Stephens; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by three sisters and one brother.
Funeral services: Wednesday March 21, Liberty Mortuary Chapel.
