Her maiden name was Eliza Conkey, and she was one of eleven children born to George W. and Mary Conkey. Her birth occurred in Athens county, Ohio, July 2, 1833 [sic]. The family moved to Fountain Green, this county, in 1846, where the subject of our sketch spent the remainder of her life. She was married in 1849 to John Reece and some years after his death became the wife of Cyrus Cratsenberg. Mr. Cratsenberg died April 11, 1899. Two sons of the first marriage survive her. They are Stephen, of Yuma Colorado, and __ T. Reece, of Smith Center, Kansas. Stephen came east to care for his mother about seven years ago and remained until her death. His own health is now sadly impaired and he is practically an invalid. There are twelve grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren, also one sister Mrs. Ollie Reynolds, Webster, and two brothers, Alfred Conkey, of Burlington, Iowa and Will, of LaHarpe.
Mrs. Cratsenberg was a faithful member of the Methodist church and many old-time friends mourn with the family at her death. She will sadly missed in the community in which she dwelt so long.
