Died, at her residence, about four miles north of this place, Wednesday, Feb. 1, 1893, Mary McCurdy, beloved wife of George W. Conkey. Mrs. Conkey was born in New Jersey, March 19, 1815. She was married to George W. Conkey in 1833, and they have lived happily together sixty years. She moved with her parents to Ohio when but a child and from there to this vicinity in 1847, and has ever since resided in this place. Eleven children were born to them, six of whom survive with their aged father to mourn her loss. The funeral services took place on Thursday at the Eagle school house, conducted by the Christian minister at LaHarpe, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Alton graveyard.∼The Quill, page 5

Mrs. George Conkey died at her home near Eagle school house last Wednesday, about 6 p. m., of heart failure. She has been troubled with heart disease for several years. Her age was 78 years. Funeral today at 11 a. m., with the burial at the Allton cemetery in Ft. Green township.
