John's father Levi Cox writes in his journal: "...My wife gradually got better from that time on. She was confined with John Thomas on the 14 March 1859, and my father died on the 18 March 1859. My mother did not come to nurse Mary on account of my father being so sick in Swineshead...On the 8 November 1862, Rober and John Thomas were taken down with scarlet fever at 94 York Street, Westminster; John Thomas died the 19 November 1862 at 3 o'clock in the afternoon and was buried on the 22 November 1862, at Tower Hamlet Cemetery, London, in grave number 1138. He was age 3 years and eight months and five days."
