Funeral Held Tuesday
Funeral services for Mrs. Elsie Peterson, widow of the late Knudt Peterson, were held Tuesday at the home west of Winnetoon and at the Methodist church in Winnetoon. A concourse of friends which taxed the capacity of the church attended, attesting to the esteem in which the deceased was held. Interment was in the Winnetoon cemetery.
Elsie Achenbach, who was born in Cedar county, Iowa, December 17, 1866, passed away Saturday, July 21, 1934 at her home, aged 67 years, seven months and four days.
She came to Nebraska with her parents, brothers and sisters in the spring of 1884.
On Oct. 17, 1885 she was married to Knudt Peterson. They resided for a year near the present location of Center, then moved to a farm 18 miles from Rapid City, S.D. There they endured the hardships of pioneer life. Two years ago, on account of failing health, they moved back to Nebraska. Only last March her husband passed away.
Others preceding her in death were her father and mother, her brother, Edward and three sisters, Katie, Sarah and Nettie. Those left to mourn include three brothers, Royal Achenbach of Winnetoon, Joseph Achenbach, also of Winnetoon and Albert Achenbach of Mechanicsville, Ia. and two sisters, Mrs. Celia Levy of Verdigre and Mr. J.L. Groeling of Walnut. Other relatives and a host of friends also rue her passing.
