Henry Archenbach was born in Schoolkill County, Pennsylvania August 18, 1842, and died April 22, 1927 at the home of his daughter, Mr. Louise Groeling near Walnut, Nebr., aged 84 years, 8 months and 3 days. His boyhood up until twenty-three years of age was spent in Schoolkill County, Pennsylvania. He then moved to Cedar County, Iowa, where he was united in marriage in 1865 to May Zerbe. To this union ten children were born, six daughters and four sons, four of whom, Edward, Katie, Sarah and Nettie together with the wife preceded him in death.
In 1884 he moved to Knox County, Nebraska, where he resided until his decease.
Mr. Achenbach, when but a child was baptized and confirmed in the German Lutheran Church.
He came to Knox County in the early planter days and knew and endured all the privations incident in the settlement of a new country. He was a good citizen., a loyal friend, and ever ready to do his part in the work of making the community a good place in which to live.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. K. K. Peterson of Box Elder, S.D., Mrs. Levy of Omaha, and Mrs. J.L. Groeling of Walnut and three sons, Joe of Winner, S.D., Royal and Albert of Winnetoon.
