One of our faithful CBMI members in Phoenix went to be with the Lord on Friday November 14, 1958. He was Ed Spurling. He was a faithful witness for our Lord and "always abouding" in His Word. At his funeral, the following poem, written by his daughter, was read in his memory.

A question I ask you earnestly
From all of life's mad rush...
What is the meaning of living?
Think...with a quiet hush.

Is life the making of money?
The gaining of social grace?
A fine display of talent?
Or the smile of a famous face?

No! Life has a deeper meaning
Than any of these could be,
It dwells inside the heart of man.
Where none but God can see.

No famous voices praise him;
He is not widely known.
His schooling even ended,
Before he was full grown.

But I think...from out the bustle
Of daily human life,
With all its fame and talent,
Its bitter war and strife...

He's found life's deepest meaning,
Forgotten b the rest;
The sacrifice of loving,
The kind that meets the test.

The strength to keep on living
Without the praise of men,
To give to those he loves;
To give, and give again.

That's why I found life's meaning
In a way I never had,
When I watched the toiling figure
Of my own, unselfish Dad.
