Ernest Raymond Spurlng, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away at his home on Friday October 15, 1999. He was 86 years of age.

He was born November 14, 1912 in Lyman, Washington, the son of William M. Spurling and Emily Marion Cross Spurling.

He attended school in Lyman, Skiyou and Sedro-Woolley High School, later moving to Peoria, Arizona where he graduated from high school in 1930.

Ernie first worked in the construction industry. In 1941 he began working for Puget Sound Power and Light out of the Burlington Line Office. After many years of service he retired from Puget Power as a Head Groundman.

Ernie was married to his first wife, Leona "Marie" Jones on May 1, 1937, who preceeded him in death in 1963.

In September 1964 he married Joy J. McDonald.

Ernie hd been a member of the Cascade Christian Church in Sedro-Woolley since 1937, where for many years he was the high school Sunday School teacher and also served as a church elder.

Ernie is survived by his wife, Joy at the family home in Sedro-Woolley; 2 sons Kenneth Spurling and his wife Eva of Silverdal, WA and Larry Spurling and wife Evelyn of Portland, OR; a step-son Jerry Giesler and his wife Sharon of Spanaway, WA; 7 grand-children; 7 great-grandchildren; and 60 nieces and nephews.

Ernie was also preceeded in death by 6 brothers, Arthur, Edwin, Lonnie, Earl, Howard and Glen Spurling along with his parents.

The Spuring family suggests that memorials be made to the Cascade Christian Church in Sedro-Woolley.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 19, 1999 at 11:00 AM at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley. Pastor Donald Bowers of the Hermon Free Methodist Church in Los Angeles, CA will officiate. Interment will follow at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery.
